On the Singularity of Quillen Metrics
Let π : X → S be a holomorphic map from a compact Kähler manifold (X, gX) to a compact Riemann surface S. Let Σπ be the critical locus of π and let ∆ = π(Σπ) be the discriminant locus. Let (ξ, hξ) be a holomorphic Hermitian vector bundle on X. We determine the singularity of the Quillen metric on detRπ∗ξ near ∆ with respect to gX |TX/S and hξ.
متن کاملHeegner Zeros of Theta Functions ( Trans . Ams . 355 ( 2003 ) , No
Heegner divisors play an important role in number theory. However little is known on whether a modular form has Heegner zeros. In this paper, we start to study this question for a family of classical theta functions, and prove a quantitative result, which roughly says that many of these theta functions have a Heegner zero of discriminant −7. This leads to some interesting questions on the arith...
متن کاملThe Tangent Cones at Double points of Prym-Canonical Divisors of Curves of genus 7
Let η be a line bundle on a smooth curve X with η^2=0 such that π_η, the double covering induced by η is an etale morphism. Assume also that X_η be the Prym-canonical model of X associated to K_X.η and Q is a rank 4 quadric containing X_η. After stablishing the projective normality of the prym-canonical models of curves X with Clifford index 2, we obtain in this paper a sufficient condition for...
متن کاملAdiabatic Limits of Η-invariants and the Meyer Functions
We construct a function on the orbifold fundamental group of the moduli space of smooth theta divisors, which we call the Meyer function for smooth theta divisors. In the construction, we use the adiabatic limits of the η-invariants of the mapping torus of theta divisors. We shall prove that the Meyer function for smooth theta divisors cobounds the signature cocycle, and we determine the values...
متن کاملA Splitting Criterion for an Isolated Singularity at X = 0 in a Family of Even Hypersurfaces
in a family of even hypersurfaces Roy Smith and Robert Varley Abstract Assume given a family of even local analytic hypersurfaces, whose central fiber has an isolated singularity at x = 0 which is not an ordinary double point. We prove that if the family is sufficiently general, for instance if the general fiber is smooth and the general singular fiber has only ordinary double points, then the ...
